"Perhaps I will help you." Owein said. "Perhaps I will take ye with me to the circle of stones. If ye agree to give me something first."

Tiny wings fluttered in Clara's belly. "Coin? Gold?"

"Nay. 'Tis something I wanted since I first laid eyes on ye. Worth more, I am thinking, than all the jewels in your wee bag."

"What is it?"

His gaze dropped to her mouth. "A kiss, lass. I would have a kiss."

SUMMARY

Those who possess the powers of the Old Ones dwell in Avalon. But only some are Keepers of the Light. One among them had dared to call upon the Deep Magic, conjuring a dark storm that boded ill for the people of Britannia.

She came upon Owein suddenly: a delicate Roman beauty materializing out of the swirling whiteness of the snow, dressed in rich garments. Her appearance at his remote refuge amid the burned-out ruins of a Celtic village made no sense. She must be a dream.

But when the trance left him, Clara remained, demanding he use his Sight to help her find a magic cup stolen from her father. The last thing Owein intended was to use his gifts for the good of his enemy’s daughter. Yet something told him this innocent lass had the power to touch him, to bring warmth where there had only been coldness, and to heal his wounded heart.

And so their quest for the grail began.
